To support the mission of advancing phage science, PrecisionPhage is introducing next-generation Phagenomics software platforms designed for comprehensive analysis of phage genomes.

“With Phagenomics Core, we want to offer anyone working in the phage field with modern and accessible tools so that focus can be put on analyzing results rather than performing manual processes. With the Phagenomics Core software, all experts from students to researchers and phage pharmaceutical scientists can independently conduct comprehensive phage genome assembly and annotation fast and easily. The software offers automated, pre-configured workflows with an intuitive graphical interface, requiring no specialized bioinformatics expertise from the user”, Jalasvuori describes.

Phagenomics Core comprises relevant processes in one automated pipeline ensuring high-quality phage genome assembly and annotation. It offers a uniquely broad set of phage and prokaryotic databases that are queried simultaneously to produce the most likely annotations. Machine learning approaches are used to predict structural proteins where database queries might fail to recognise rare protein sequences. It also analyses the genome for virulence factors, antibiotic resistance genes and phage’s potential for lysogeny.

“For professional bioinformaticians, the platform provides a robust foundation for developing customized downstream analyses and serves as a complementary tool that optimizes workflow efficiency at specific stages of the analytical pipeline. PrecisionPhage has also started a pilot program for Phagenomics BatchQC, the first advanced platform designed specifically fo GMP- level genomic quality control in bacteriophage manufacturing. The software enables stringent production requirements, comprehensive phage genome integrity analysis, data management, and pharmaceutical-grade reporting and electronic signatures within a single easy-to-use platform.

“Phagenomics BatchQC is a future-ready platform designed to support the highest quality control standards and regulatory requirements for GMP compliant phage production”, Jalasvuori describes.

“We have now launched the pilot program and warmly welcome phage companies interested in participating to start taking benefits from the software. The software will be released in 2026”, Jalasvuori says.

The company also introduces one of the most comprehensive phage libraries and collections available for commercial use.

“With our collection of over 1,600 phages, we license phages for a range of applications. Our licensing models accommodate both commercial and academic requirements. Our strains have been carefully selected and optimized for various needs”, Jalasvuori says.
