FAQs

What types of data can you analyze?

We primarily work with phage and prokaryotic genomes to analyse the probability of lytic life cycle, host ranges, antibiotic resistance genes, virulence factors, prophages and other mobile genetic elements, among others, but our tools and expertise also extend to similar biological entities such as plasmids.

Which data formats do you accept?

We support standard formats generated by common sequencing platforms, including Illumina, Oxford Nanopore, Pacific Biosciences and Sanger sequencing.

Can you handle difficult or low-quality datasets?

Yes. We have extensive experience working with challenging samples, including fragmented assemblies or low-input DNA.

So, do you offer both hands-on bioinformatic services as well as bioinformatic tools?

Yes, this is exactly our approach. We develop software for industry needs, but also hold extensive in-house expertise to help people with various bioinformatic needs, utilising manual and automated approaches. We provide a list of the bioinformatic programs used as building blocks by Phagenomics in our results reports.

Do I need to know programming to use your bioinformatic tools?

No. Our Phagenomics solutions are designed to be user-friendly and require no coding. You can access advanced bioinformatics analyses through simple web interfaces. However, we highly encourage everyone to understand the underlying mechanisms of assembly, annotation, alignment, and genomic comparison processes!
